Dance is the hidden language of the soul of the body.

Martha Graham

There are historical evidences to suggest that Indian & Egyptian dance forms are more than 5000 years old. All global forms of dances – classical or contemporary – explore love / attractiveness, laughter / comedy, fury, compassion, disgust, horror, heroism, and wonder. Dance as a form of art had a very interesting journey – Gods have danced, Demons have danced. Temples patronised dances; then it entered the Royal Courts and finally in the Courtesans’ Courts. In Europe, it found respectability as a mainstream public entertainment and social indulgences (Ballet and Opera) in 18th and 19th century.

Contemporary times are the most interesting times for dance forms, when Classes and Masses want to break free of the taboos, inhibitions, and find dance as the most natural way to express them & discover themselves. Today, every child would like to indulge in street dance, EDM, & Salsa. Every dance lover wants to explore global forms of dance, and artistes are being held in the highest esteem. In the words of Kristy Nilsson, Dancing is the world’s favourite metaphor.
