By Navdhara India Dance Theatre

"I hear you, smell you, see you, touch you, taste you in every breath… you are my lover and I am yours". In one magical hour, Amaara takes you into a world of experiencing the body and mind as they fuse their way to nothingness - a love story that just is and always was.

In this work, the dancers, using Ashley Lobo’s Prana Paint™ technique, journey through themselves to explore their own identity and oneness – leaving the viewer with an experience that is felt rather than seen.

East Meets West

Music really is, so often, about innovation. The groups and artists that really make an impact on pop culture and become a memorable part of history are innovators. They may create something entirely new, something no one has ever heard before. They may also take an existing concept or idea and present it in a new way. That's what AFISHAL did with his Visual DJ Rig, the TREMOR.

East Meets West

The afternoon Jazz session is a beautiful curation of the Indian and Western Jazz artists. This three hour swinging and soothing musical journey will start with our own Louiz Banks and then gently shift to A.J Croce who is a celebrated figure in the western Jazz scene. He represents his generation with a profound sense of honesty in his lyrics and quality in his performance. The session will end with the headliner Peter Cincotti, the latest sensation with PHILADELPHIA the chartbuster number. This never before seen combination will unwind you and set you up for the lovely carnival night.

Peter Cincotti

Like a pilot in a cockpit, when Cincotti sits down at a piano it’s as if the world is at his fingertips. And this time, on his highly anticipated new album, he is indeed traveling a Long Way From Home. “Never before have I used the piano in this way. A few years ago, I began having these visions of an album that brings active, rhythmic piano playing back into the landscape of modern music.” Peter learned how to play the instrument at the same age he learned how to walk and talk. It’s as integral to him as the bare essential elements of life. “It wasn’t something that I ever thought about doing, it was just something I did,” he recalls. “And as I got older, I consciously walked the line of learning more, and learning too much. The minute it gets too cerebral, it’s over.” A born and bred New Yorker, Cincotti spent much of his childhood going to school during the day and playing clubs at night. Legendary music producer Phil Ramone was there one of those nights, a discovery that led Ramone to produce Peter’s debut album which reached #1 on the Billboard jazz charts, making 18-year old Cincotti the youngest artist ever to do so. Since then, Peter has performed in some of the world’s most prestigious venues from Carnegie Hall to L’Olympia in Paris, collaborated with artists ranging from Andrea Bocelli to David Guetta, has been featured in blockbuster films such as Spiderman 2, represented the global fashion brands Ermenegildo Zegna and Tod’s, and just recently appeared as himself in Season 3 of the hit Netflix series House Of Cards, singing a duet with the president played by Kevin Spacey. Along the way, his vibrant and socially-aware songwriting caught the ear of 16-time Grammy winner"

Their father would organise small music sessions each month where they could sing through the night for extended family and friends,”. Rekha says she never sang a mainstream film song at these gatherings. She always chose Hindustani classical pieces or ghazals. “I’m a melancholic person. I think I must have been a heartbroken woman in my last birth. Sufi Night

The beauty of Sufism lies in the translation of poetry into music, which not only makes up for an enriching experience for the listeners, but also lets them embark on a journey of soul searching. Such is the beauty of sa’ma’ another name for music in Sufi.

The Sikandra Gharana has an overwhelming historic legacy, with the singers participating in various musical events at the Dargah of the Hazrat Nizamuddin Aulia as court singers. They are known to perform Qawaali which was written by the famous poet Amir Khusro himself in honour of Hazrat Nizamuddin. Late Ustad Mehmood Nizami was one of the finest singers this Gharana has produced, which earned him the accolade of “Sultan Ragi” from the first president of independent India, Dr. Rajendra Prasad. Such is the grandeur and magnificence of this Gharana that its singers achieved heights of musical accomplishments taking forward the legacy to even greater heights. Late Ustad Ghulam Farid Nizami, another impeccably talented Sufi singer hailing from this gharana took it on his stride to take Indian culture and tradition to a wider audience through Qawaali, Shayaris, poems, Ghazals and Bhajans.
